
Auction Sale - the market preferred by buyers
On site sales: Bounds Auctions are 'on site' specialists. On site often refers to the complete liquidation, including household goods as well as property of high value, on the site (usually the residence) of the consignor. When this method is appropriate, it has many advantages. Merchandise sold on the site of its’ owner is considered by the trade to be merchandise that is “fresh to the market“ and therefore more desirable. If an estate sale, proceeds may not subject to any state sales tax for the non-trade buyer. This status stimulates the interest and competition that yields higher prices than the common auction house consignment can and payment to the consignor estate is in the shortest period possible.
Selected Quality Catalog Sale: When an estate holds items of very high value and demand, a few items of high value or interest or a single item of high value is consigned, the highest return is best obtained by grouping these items of high value in a Quality Consignment Sale. These sales are cataloged and widely promoted. This level of sale attracts the highest caliber buyer, delivering highest return to our consignors and is especially effective for antique furnishing, decorative arts and high value collectables as it offers one stop shopping for discriminating collectors and those who trade in this merchandise.
ATTENTION COLLECTORS !
As of January 2008. Most Bounds Auction Company's Quality Catalog sales will be conducted as On Line Only offerings. We have found this to be the most profitable for its' consignors of collectible merchandise. There has been a decline in attendance at live auctions nationally due to the high cost of energy. Bidders are moving on line for their special interest bidding and we intend to follow them there via our online partners, Bidspotter.com, Proxbid.com and Liveauctioneers.com and extensive online marketing. This method reduces overhead expenditures which we are passing along to our consignor's with a new reduced flat rate commission plan. See Consignor's Guide for details.
Special Offerings: Large, hard to relocate or property requiring special conditions to achieve their best price require special service and attention to bring the buyers to the merchandise. Yachts and other water craft, aircraft, high value motor craft, unique, one of a kind items are a Bounds Auctions specialty.
Consignment Referral: Consignment referral or consolidation is appropriate for smaller or lower value consignments. The property is removed from the site for sale at another location and is combined with the property of other consignors. The advantage is that sale will usually take place in a reasonably short period of time so payment is reasonably quick. These sales are often in conjunction with a Bounds Auctions partner. By pooling consignments, auction companies can muster larger sales, reduce costs, and get cash to the consignor more quickly. Bounds Auctions maintains ongoing relationships with many auction companies to appropriately place merchandise where it will earn the highest return for the consignor at the lowest fees possible.
Of course every consignor has different needs and every sale is different. There are cases when a combination of these venues is the most effective method to maximize the return to the consignor. Often, the bulk of the estate can be relatively quickly liquidated via a consignment referral or on site estate sale while the items of higher value and interest are held out for a future Selected Quality Catalog sale, or a Special Offering.
