The Bounds Auction Company is engaged in the business of preparing estate inventories and the appraisal of personal property for the purposes of estate, familial division, divorce settlement, insurance, gift and donation.  Also provided is personal property consultation for the transaction of personal property with the highest financial return for the client. Where these services are most often contracted by private parties or law firms, they are also offered to insurance companies, lending institutions, museums, government agencies, and law enforcement in Pennsylvania & the Mid-Atlantic region.

 

Mr. Omar P. Bounds III is currently active in the appraisal of fine American & Continental furniture and decorative arts including the antique  (18th & 19th century), the contemporary & reproduction, as well as clocks & other period accessories. In addition to porcelains, pottery, glassware, silverware and oriental carpeting, he is expert in antique and contemporary wooden & brass musical instruments, craft & trade tools, and a variety of collectables & Americana. He has extensive knowledge of various types of watercraft & yachts, (traditional & modern) miscellaneous nautical items, as well as items of horticultural interest. Also, through his years of experience in the manufacturing sector, he is expert in woodworking and wood processing equipment, metal working and many other manufacturing, fabricating, processing equipment. He is well acquainted with transportation, construction, trade and other specialty tooling.

 

Mr. Bounds extends this knowledge base through an extensive network of expert associates in many fields including but not limited to business valuation, motor, & air craft, items of equestrian interest, jewelry, dolls, fine linen and American needle & fabric craft, textiles, vintage garments & couture, antique toys, historic artifacts, sporting collectables, stamps, rare books, coins, ephemera, photographic art, paintings and other fine art. 

 

Mr. Bounds has attended the Universities of Pittsburgh and Florida. For over 25 years, he was active in business as President of The Bounds Company ( founded 1952), it's successor corporation, Bounds Wood Products LTD, ( industrial millwork concerns) and it's subsidiary, Bounds Traditional Cabinetry, (specializing in period reproduction residential cabinetry) eventually trading as a master cabinetmaker and designer.

 

He is a graduate of The Temple University Real Estate Institute, holds both a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania & a State of New Jersey real estate sales licenses, and is an active real estate investor with sales and management experience spanning commercial, multi-family and residential properties.

 

Mr. Bounds is a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania licensed & bonded Auctioneer*(#AU005174) and a licensed & bonded Commonwealth of Virginia Auctioneer ( 2907 003526). He is a graduate of the R.A.C.C. auctioneer's program in Reading PA., one of only two programs approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Auctioneer Examiners. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association & the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association and is a past Director that organization, and is active in these organizations continuing professional education programs. He holds the National Auctioneers Association's Graduate Personal Property Appraiser ( G.P.P.A.) designation as well as others.  

 

An active horticulturalist, Mr. Bounds is a certified Judge of the American Orchid Society and as such is trained in the principles of aesthetic evaluation. He participates regularly at events locally and nationally. He has also participated in international horticultural venues including the Royal Horticultural Society, London , UK. Mr. Bounds is often invited to present programs to horticultural societies and is a past President of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society. He has most recently served as chairman of the Longwood Garden's Centennial Orchid Symposium and Show, an international orchid show and conference held in conjunction with Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA, commemorating Alice DuPont in May of 2006.  

 

While The Bounds Auction Company may tender an offer to represent the property appraised to the marketplace, there will never be any offer to purchase outright or exchange any property or service for property appraised by Bounds Auction Company or any of their employees or agents. Appraisals conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP, latest edition) of the Appraisal Foundation.  All appraisal fees are calculated on a by the hour, plus costs basis only.
